Hue is a highly improvisational five-piece band originally from central Wisconsin, and now based out of Madison.  Drummer Eric Larson, bassist James Langer, and guitarist Jed Heckman have been making music together since the fall of 1997.  Lead vocalist Damien Gass joined the band in the summer of ’98, and guitarist Ben Kauth, also of Northbound Train, began jamming with Hue shortly thereafter.  With a unique musical style that draws from many genres but avoids being restricted to any one, Hue plays a very original brew of music.  Catchy original tunes that run the gamut from deep funk to hillbilly bliss eschew traditional songwriting formats in favor of unusual compositions and strange arrangements.  Cover tunes include music by Frank Zappa, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Talking Heads, and Jimi Hendrix.  Due to their musical diversity, twisted sense of humor, unpredictable stage show, and commitment to improvisation, Hue is a local favorite at a number of central Wisconsin venues.  With the approaching release of their first studio album, entitled The Banana Tape, and consisting of thirteen original compositions, Hue is bound to entertain.

 Another way of saying it.

On stage Hue is known to entertain with wild, insane, most entertaining and musically inclined, stage antics, and funky, jazzy, rollin' music.

Some of the private partys Hue played I missed.  Mostly because I'm a hermet.  But I've heard at these shows the band's sets Are as wild as damien on Spanish fly.  Rumors fly about nudity, robotic dancing, strange stage props, the segways from song to song, and the all favorite cover songs.  From chili peppers and gomez to phish and Jimi hendrix.  I once heard they did a version of an En vouge classic.  But nothing subdues as great as their original writings. Buffalo Train, Tim & Gene, Pool, Zygotes... They are so good. All 12 tracks can be heard on the banana tape. They must be heard by the world.

Hue began way back about 4 years ago.  They were called a plethora of names, from lamppost, to nirvana-Madonna 2.  But Hue stuck after they got sick of searching and the definition describes the music and shows.  The band has always had Eric, Jed, and James in the beginning, but a gap needed to be filled with more talented  sound .  4 different guitar players have strutted their stuff with the band, but Ben Kauth was found and put the bands sound to the top of its potential.  Damien is also an irreplaceable voice of the band.  After singing some covers with the band at a party they knew he had the same excitement they had of music with an added dose of balls, (braveness) on stage.  The song writing process involves all members.  From Music to lyrics they have all put in.  It definitely makes the music more original and personal.

Check em out sometime...........HOIGHT.
